Flytec Connect 1 - Software

Automatic updates

To get the latest software version for the Connect 1, simply connect your vario to the Internet:

  1. From the main screen: "Config" - "Wi-Fi" - "Enable Wi-Fi" - Select your network and enter its password if required
  2. If a newer software version is available, the information icon (i) appears in the status bar at the top of the screen
  3. Click on the status bar to open the information screen and see information about the latest version: "A firmware update is available for your Connect 1"
  4. Click on the message to open the installation screen, where the update can be started.

  • More accurate XC distance calculation
  • Virtual keyboard for entering numerical values (e.g. cylinder sizes in race routes)
  • With Buzzard 15 it could happen that one field on the flight pages was occupied by two indicators. To resolve this, tap again on the field, and choose the indicator you want displayed.


  • User interface in English, German, French and Russian (manual)

    • XC route: Automatic switch to next route turnpoint, switching distance can be set per route (excpetion: the last turnpoint stays active).
    • Race route: Adjustable cylinder radius; exit or enter for each waypoint; begin and end of speed section; multiple start gates; goal shapes cylinder, line and half circle; start time. Navigation along shortest route ("optimized route"). Automatic advance if start after start time, and for each cylinder after correct crossing.
    • Indicator for race times: Time to launch, time to start, time since start, time to deadline
  • Indicator for currently flown distance over three turnpoints
  • Flight heading as data field
  • North indicator in map view

Flight analysis

  • Automatic launch and landing detection (bird symbol in status bar)
  • Record the flight as IGC file, including C records when starting flight with active route
  • Flight recording as Google Earth file (KMZ)

Connection: WiFi (manual)

  • Supported safety mechanisms: WEP, WPA2

Connection: USB

  • Connect 1 appears as a USB drive, IGC files can be copied directly to your computer (manual)
  • Allow USB drive to be read-only, to protect it from malware (manual)
