USB-Serial Converter

By using the USB-serial converter adapter, the FLYTEC Variometers of series 4000, 5000 and 6000 may communicate via the USB interface of the computer with the Flychart software. For the 5030 it is possible to download the flights, however it is not possible to perform an instrument configuration.

Important: for previous connecting cables (series 4000) it is required for correct functioning  to have a jumper soldered at the RS232 connector between pin 7 and 8. (see relevant drawing at bottom).

Information for 5030 users:

for the FLYTEC 5030 a special USB-serial converter is available. By use of this special version it is possible to transmit the firmware to the 5030. The driver is the same model as for the standard version.

Connecting cable Variometer – PC

On older instruments of series 4000 the interconnecting bridge between pin 7 and 8 is not yet fitted. Therefore please check the cable before using the USB-serial converter for the first time. Without presence of such interconnecting bridge the converter might possibly have a malfunction.
