About us

FLYTEC was founded in 1983 by Peter Joder and Lorenz Camenzind. At this time, and in addition to the already well-known hang-gliders, the first para gliders appeared at Europe’s skies, resulting in an ever increasing demand for electronic flight instruments on the world market. FLYTEC, due to its customer oriented innovations and paramount quality “Made in Switzerland”, occupied in a very short time the position of worldwide leadership within the market of fabrics related aviation.
As the third business partner Alois Sigrist joined the company in 1991 who managed specifically the development of the worldwide dealership network. In the following years, FLYTEC evolved to become more and more the specialist for the technology of pressure sensors. Wind meters and pocket-size weather stations are other outdoor products which established the name of FLYTEC.
Due to this specific know-how FLYTEC became a sought-for partner, inter alia for the well-known forge of pocket knives, VICTORINOX, for whom FLYTEC manufactures until nowadays the pressure sensor print for the successful model TRAVELLER with altitude indicator (FLYTEC patent)

These days

In 2004, FLYTEC has even more expanded its position as global market leader in the segment of instrument manufacture for fabrics related aviation by the acquisition of German instrument manufacturer company, Bräuniger Flugelectronic. Moreover, FLYTEC has developed another most promising mainstay by the takeover of production and merchandising of the electric drive systems HPD 10 and HPD 13.5 of Geiger/Eck. It is the goal of FLYTEC AG to occupy the position of global market leader also in this growing market. Actually FLYTEC employs at its headquarters in Horw approx. 20 members of staff.
